Meet Alina Scoggins

My Background
I earned my bachelor's in human services while playing Division 1 softball. During this time, I developed strong time management skills and learned the value of support systems. I then pursued my master's in counseling, completing my practicum and internship in a school setting.
After graduation, I found my home at a community mental health agency for two years. While working in community mental health, I work with a range of clients, including addiction, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. This experience provided me with valuable insight into therapeutic approaches and client care.
For the past three years, I've worked as a school counselor while also coaching softball, combining my passion for mental health support and athletics. As a school counselor, I get the flexibility to work with students on their academic progress and social-emotional well-being. I enjoy working with students and young adults as they learn to navigate life and assist them on their journey.
As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), I believe in building a strong therapeutic relationship with clients that fosters inclusivity. I enjoy working with preteens, teens, and young adults.
I specialize in working with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and ADHD, as well as athletes seeking performance enhancement. My approach helps clients to achieve their goals. I also use interventions for self-esteem building, academic success, family dynamics, and career development.
What to Expect
Our sessions will be an opportunity for you to share your story, what brought you to therapy, and what your goals are. I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment that allows you to feel comfortable sharing and being vulnerable, while also feeling secure. We will work together in session to help you reach your goals.

I believe in providing my client with unconditional positive regard, empathy, and congruence. I want to work with you in a partnership and help guide you on your path. In our sessions I use skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused approaches to meet your needs. In sessions we might use thought records to understand your current challenges while using scaling questions to track progress toward your goals. This combination helps us address present concerns while building on your strengths to create positive changes.
